Bayonet may be able to be mounted sideways and secured with OD green duct tape. I like the excessive butt plate overhang which may very well serve as an entrenching tool.

Nothin' there that couldn't be sorted and a bead blast and park would fix...

I was thinking that if notched properly, the buttplate overhang could be used as a bottle opener. The bayonet mounting idea would totally match the aesthetic that the original owner was attempting to accomplish.

I am actually thinking about bidding on it. Somebody needs to save it. If I could get it cheap enough, i would send it back to Chuck to refinish it and then seek out a new set of wood.

As you know that's the thing. Yes, Chuck would overhaul it.

That looks like something you would find here in Tennessee haha. Looks like somebody's truck gun for a long time. I hope someone can get it cheap enough to save it. The zip tie sends it over the top haha

They left out the rusted appearance of the rifle which was the forerunner to the digital cammo'ed weapons we see today.
Seems a sad life for such an iconic weapon hopefully someone will buy and restore it back to how it was leaving the factory.

I think I have seen that gun on the TV series "Swamp People" where one guy was trying to pull a gator into the boat with a rope and yelling at the top of his lungs =
"SHOOT THE AL LA GATOR"
That would explain all the rust.
