I think that the blue/grey sling is an RAF issue. Yes, really......... The RAF had this colour webbing until the late 70's when questions were asked why........., when they fought on exactly the same terrain as the Army. That included vehicles too. So thereafter this nonsense ceased and the RAF went from stupid to sensible - and started to use khaki vehicles and webbing
