For some reason the ponchos made me think this was Korea. Didn't quite make sense so I looked. Knew it was either that or spring 1945...

That still had some the Raincoats. synthetic resin coated, Dismounted when I was in the army, 1st Sgts had them. They
had four buttons and knee length. The ponchos were better as you could keep your rifle under the poncho
