National Match barrel symbol
Does anyone know what this symbol is to the right of 1961 NM triangle?

The rifle was sold thru Erie Ordnance depot. I was told that they sometimes stamped a heart on NM rifle that past thru , wondering if this was remnants of heart symbol.

Heart
AFAIK nobody knows. I assume it is an annual code like the other marks that I can identify. At one time I speculated that it might be a Rock Island code used after SA stopped making NMs in 1963. That's the only thing I can think of. No documentation has yet been found. It is sometimes found on the late 7781035 barrel not used until 1962/63 so it's late.
Real men measure once and cut.

Bob That was my rifle some years ago and my leg in that picture. Here is a pic of the paper work that came with it from Rock Island and the pick up order from DCP in Port Clinton when ready.. Rick B
