I don't mean to bloat the forum, but I'm not sure where else to ask technical questions. I'm still learning about M1 rifles so I am bringing all my questions here to bother the experts.
I'm looking at a particular rifle that has an amalgam of parts assembled into the rear sight: a Springfield Windage knob, a Winchester Lockbar, and a Winchester Elevation Knob. The screw holding the Elevation knob is what is standing out as I have never seen that before. It doesn't look like a screw on the T105 sights, just a regular old screw. Has anyone seen that before?
Finally figured out how properly upload photographs. Thank you Bob for the walkthrough!
Respectfully,
- Michael

The rifle is admittedly not mine, I saw it as a listing online. It is a 6 digit Winchester with Winchester parts (although not contemporary to the receiver).
It is a peculiar piece that stuck out to me. I doubt any armorer would jerry-rig a design like that at an arsenal.
The trouble is if someone has forced in a screw with the wrong thread they may have messed up the thread in the part that the screw fits into, the pinion.
