Neat old knives those...I've looked at them many times with buying in mind. The pommel is unusual as it's in three parts. Those trying to refurbish them have to look up the schematics to see how the butt is assembled, the pins are a square nail that screws in. The center steel plate rotates like a key to lock in... Very tough knife overall. Those that are in good shape are expensive.

This particular one was buy it now for $69 so pretty reasonable. They were listing a lot worse examples for a lot more. I was just surprised that most were/are pretty rough. Ka-bars seem to come in all sorts of conditions from bad to near mint. I believe they made a ton more of them which is probably why. I'm anxious to get it in hand but likely a week out.

Absolutely. You're aware there was about 35 variations of the marine fighting knife? I got one from a US SEAL in 1980 on board the USS Alamo and it was a NEW Mk2 with VP scabbard and WW2 markings.

I had one many years back. It was a great hunting/camping knife and served me well. Unfortunately, a "buddy" ripped me off so I never saw that knife again.

The 1/4 mark on the scabbard has me intrigued. Seems odd.
Not much of a "buddy" I would say.
