    That is correct. Scant stocks with an "S" in the cutoff recess were made in early-to-mid 1942 before the M'03-A3 design was approved.

    And San Antonio Arsenal (Boxed SAA stamp) regularly placed some of their overhaul inspection stamps on the right side below the receiver rear.
