I've never liked stock pouches, they make a handy easy to handle carbine into a club. But since we have a serious crime situation in Calif. I put mine on the NPM just because I might need it quickly.
Going through the pouches I found a Tweedie Footwear Corporation belt pouch dated '58. Never heard of them before. Strange it says that it is for M1 carbine or rifle. Would that mean that you could put a couple of enblocs in there and use it as last resort ammunition supply? It looks brand new, unused. Anyone looking for a Tweedie? Funny, I picture a yellow canary when I see "Tweedie"

Yep, I've got one probably exactly like yours. They were made for both the rifle and the carbine - holds (2) enblocs, but I've never tried them. Never had an M1 Rifle until 2-3 years ago - and haven't fired any gun since before the pandemic, so today took my new Taurus G3C pistol up in the hills and ran a box of ammo through it

At $195 after rebate it's the least expensive new one I've ever bought. Also, the first Taurus I've ever owned and it ran perfectly - plus I hit a 4" diameter plastic (self healing) "ball" with my first (2) shots, standing (off hand) at about 15-20 yards. I moved back a bit and still hit it more than I was missing. Only took one box of shells with me and you can go through them pretty fast with a 12 rd magazine. The thing came with (3) of them.

Back to the pouches (pockets) I had to look that Tweedie up the other day, and used those lists that our buddy JimF posted here on the forum. If they aren't still here, I could attach them if anyone is interested. - Bob

That WAS the idea at one point, the military wanting to have everything as a one size fits all...the rifle belt wasn't going to hold Carbine mags so lets go the other way round. They wanted to issue a belt full of mag pouches and have it full of rifle clips instead. Seems they never did run out of M1923 belts though.

I found a Tweedie Footwear Corporation belt pouch dated '58.

I've seen Tweedie 56 and 57 but never a 58, not even on the lists that I've seen.

I think so, and I've always heard people make fun of them (the glock anyway) - when I took the course for my CW permit in the 90's, the city police had Glocks and the County still had 1911's. The instructor was a County Deputy and called them "Tactical Tupperware." Yeah, I can see 20 yards, but can't see the sights! - can if I just tip my head back and let the Vari-Lux specs dial them in! I'll have to look at my Tweedie pouch again to see if it says 56 or 58. - Bob

I just checked my MS Access file and it shows that I have (2) of those Tweedie pouches. Bought them at a Portland Gun Show in 2006 and paid $5 each. My comments on them are listed as Tweedie Footwear 12-20-58 NOS, and 2023 value as $22.50 ea. Don't think I have pictures, but will check.

I just looked on an older computer and found some pics of the Tweedie pouches These were taken about 11 years ago and I think it must have been for the same question back then: 1956 or 1958? Also, I found JimF's PDF on pouches. It has a lot of detail that I hadn't seen before. On my pictures, the one on the left looks like 56 and the other one more like 58. Not sure if I know how to attach a PDF, but will give it try after the pictures. I downloaded that PDF to my computer in January of 2015. Jim has his CA phone number listed in the footers on each page, so he may have completed that work before moving to WA. - Bob

I looked at it under a loupe and it could be 12-20-56 too. One of the ones pictured is identical.

Getting bad out here Charlie? You bet. It's enough to make a cynical 78 year old grouch even worse.
They've built huge multi story apartments all over the city, instant slums to stuff the freeloaders into. 5-6 stories high 100 units, they look like those German flack towers in Berlin. There will be 2 families in each unit and we will pay for most of them. The freeloaders will have no place to park their cars, so they will be scattered all over town. When they have those drunk stops on a Friday night there will be 2 drunks and 45 people with no drivers license. At night tweekers wandering around stealing anything not tied down. The whole west coast is going down like this. I'm not going to point fingers at one group but their name starts with a D. It's like your kid borrows your car, never gives it back, wrecks it, abandons it and never apologizes for doing it.

Tweedies are actually pretty common pouches. I have several. But today I found a pouch that seems to be VERY scarce. I found a Coglizer Tent & Awning pouch. WB III lists them, but only as being tan. This one is green! Seems even Ruth didn't find one of these.

12-15 Years back the Feds/State dozed a neighborhood of mid-late 1950's built craftsman style homes that were once the homes of auto workers at nearby GM plants. Still nicely kept homes with mature trees and landscapes with yards about 1/3 to 1/2 acre in size. Basically a land grab for a FHA/HUD low cost housing project with duplex and quadplex style built just a driveway's width apart. Best I remember there were about 260 to 280 structures built where 1/2 that many had stood before. Only low income could apply to live in. I had to attend 'Spec Meeting' 2-3 times a week. Any material we used had to come from a 'Approved List' of basically suppliers that .... Shall I say Worked closely with the HUD officials. Think hand in the cookie jar. Any of our material deliveries or truck loads we brought in had to be inspected to verify it was on their 'List'. It was so bad we couldn't have empty 1 or 5 gallon paint cans from a different maker to use just for mixing in or working out of.

The interior walls, ceilings and any painted surfaces were all finished with a Oil Hi-Gloss for maximum scrubbability. Which looked like crap showing every flaw and seam in production drywall jobs. No carpet was installed, all flooring was linoleum including the stair treads. When I asked a site laborer why he laughed and said it was so they could just hose the units outs between tenants. Well before we finished the 1st of the 3 streets in this project the end we had 1st started on already looked like it was 20 years old.

It was pure production you weren't given a time schedule to make it look nice, even though the pay scale was nearly on par with the high end homes we were also doing. I wouldn't allow any of our trucks or vans with signage on them on this site. It came to be known as 'BUILD A GHETTO'.

Early on the locals tried to fight it, but to no avail. Your not going to beat the Funds and Legal pull the FHA/HUD and State Dems when their promising New and Improved at no cost to you.
That area ranks the highest in all the crime categories and has put a huge burden on the schools and other infrastructure. None of which was increased for the increase in population.

Enough money was spent on and under the table that these could have been homes people could have been proud of. But if their not accountable to the condition their kept in......

Why spend the money, time and effort.
