i was stationed on a Submarine '85-'89 , we were not "issued" weapons but we had Colt 1911's , M14icon's and the Rem 870 sawed off , M14 was the Sail watch , 1911 was Petty Officer of the Deck , and the 870 was carried by the topside roving watch , we had to qualify everything once a year
