While attending a "Reconnaissance and Target Interdiction Course" in Alaska during 1977, I purchased a Springfield M1A. The instructors, all JFK Center SF people, all took turns shooting this rifle and were surprised at the accuracy from this out of the box rifle. It is (was) one of my favorite rifles. Unfortunately, with the current state laws it has been outlawed and now it's just a matter of time before they start confiscation.
The first picture shows the rifle a few years after I bought it and the second picture shows it dressed in a tiger striped camouflaged nylon stock. My son was working as an armorer in a gun store and cerakoted the stock for me.
