P14 and Home Guard revisited.
While researching the LDV (Local Defence Volunteers) and Home Guard's use of the Ross Rifle I naturally came across numerous pictures of them carrying P14 rifles. Badger posted a thread some time ago with an informative training video for the Home Guard and the P14 so I thought it would be interesting to post a few pics. Enjoy!

Rifles in pic 1 look like US M1917, note long grasping groove and second rifle appears to have the painted band.

You have a sharp eye, I believe you are correct.

First one does too. It wouldn't be a stretch to find them mixed I think. I noticed the underage soldiers taking training. Reminds me of some of my guys.
Instructor overlooked the book on bayonet training though. States clearly, "Slings are to be removed during bayonet fighting"...

Later on there was a concerted effort to locate all .303 arms, of whatever pattern, in the Home Guard and replace them all with .30s, or Sten guns.
