Chuck, I've got a question for you. Is there a ring inside a P14 or P17 receiver as there is with a Mauser receiver for the barrel to seat on. I got this Obermeyer heavy target barrel off gunbroker for $10, wanted to build a P14 into a 6mm/30-40 Ackley Improved, but a gunsmith here in IN tells me I'd only have about .050 barrel/receiver shoulder and that it should be more. I'd guess the barrel came off a Rem 700. I guess the question is, does the barrel seat on a ring inside the receiver, or is it completely dependent on the receiver/barrel shoulder? If the P14 won't work, I might use a T38 Arisakaicon action.
