Sure looks like one Ovidio not sure if its a German
or a GI hard to tell.
Almost looks like the lower GI is about to send it into the object.

Under the left arm of the poor guy, I think that could be the German
Gas Mask cylindrical box. Also, between arm and box, it looks as if he had a wrapped blanket tied over the right shoulder and down crossing the chest. Helmet upside-down at his immediate right, touching the elbow.
