WW2 or Korean war Army Officers jacket value ?

I found this army officers jacket many years ago on a military installation in a old wall locker. Condition was excellent and still is in exc condition; no moth holes or damage but missing a large button on the front. belt was in the pocket along with a majors oakleaf. Has had a minor repair at the back but can be corrected.

Prices appear to be all over the place for resale, any advice as to a fair price ?

Probably not much. The dress uniforms generate less interest than field uniforms and this one being the 2nd Army which was just a training army that never left the states doesn't help at all in that regard. I get nice Ike jackets for $40 with dog tags and things with them. Like you say, prices all over the place but what someone asks for something and what someone's willing to pay are two different things. If it were from some other unit, any other unit, it would probably be worth more but 2nd Army, even though what it did was very important and crucial to the war effort, just doesn't fire people up like one that stormed Normandy or invaded Germany.

I just got a whole bunch of uniforms, coats and jackets from WWII - 1960 and paid like $65 for an entire duffle bag full. Nice Ike Jacket, two coats, one a marine corp coat with 3rd amphibious patch, three well worn but complete Korean War field uniforms and a nice WWII 2nd Army shirt along with half a dozen hats, a belt and some nice dress shirts with AA patches on them from the late 50's.

I'd say $20 for the jacket is a likely value but the insignias and rifleman's badge add to that. Some of them are sterling and if so are individually probably worth more than the jacket.

I bought a couple of Carhartt XL Tall short sleeve T shirts with pocket today at a Tractor Supply store than ran $24.99 a piece plus tax. So about ~$53.00 for 2 T shirts. Gal that checked me out thought they might have been on sale. High? I don't know, I rarely shop for clothes.

WW I or WWII uniforms have a better value. Span Am and Civil war is really big bucks! The more junk on the uniform the faster it sellers-- is it named? A uniform named with a picture of the soldier and other items like trousers, shirt, tie and medals or ribbons adds to collectability. More favor is given to special unit patches and award winning combat soldier uniforms for top buck. Korean war collectables is mostly Airforce or USMC field uniforms sometimes hardware sells better. At the antique store about $25. Most want field uniforms or web equipment, bayonets and such. Best is any bring back firearms with papers. Now, lacking all the provenience it's a halloween costume easily found at second hand stores for 10 bucks.
Always think the entire foot locker of all the goodies and uniforms with provenience --then the value can be high. Especially silver star , or bronze star soldiers. USMC field shirt 50 bucks, WW II and its $100 or more. It is the history of the unit or vet that makes the value. Condition, and age is a consideration. Generally the field shirts and trouser and shoes were worn out by vet use after discharge. They were used up, so they are harder to find- few survived. None wore the class A uniforms so they are all that remains. The soldiers set of orders, commendations, awards, school books, TMs, combat letters and a uniform would add value as a whole. Collectors want the entire historical package for big bucks. Think historical provenience. A North Korean bring back Tokarev--priceless. Unit flag & photo album better.
