    Timothy:

Your holster is WW2 USGI. It was manufactured by Brauer Brothers of St. Louis for the U.S. Navy. It was used mostly shoreside but occasionally shows up in contemporary photos in use by some aircrew, although the shoulder holster was generally preferred by aircrew. The other military maritime services, the Marine Corps and the Coast Guard, were supplied by the Navy with these holsters as well. Almost all examples seen have been unmarked, but a few have been observed that display small U.S. marks and a date on the hanger piece.

The image below from my collection shows a Marine sentry during WW2 rendering a snappy salute. He is carrying a S&W Victory Model revolver inside the holster model in question.

I hope this information is helpful to you.

    Regards.
