Liability is a major problem for land owners . Anybody can sue for whatever reason now days . I know of a case where a guy was hog hunting , fell asleep and fell off of a low platform he was sitting on . It cost the land owner 21 K to get the suit settled . Plus letting people you do not know with weapons on your land can cause many different problems , shot cattle , buildings , ****ed off neighbors . Most land owners who lease out hunts have insurance for that , and have to pay for it . Or you can just spend about 500 K and get your own place .

We're looking into that. We're only living near the city because my wife and I still work and we want to keep the daily commute reasonable. When I retire next year we're going to pull up stakes and buy an acreage somewhere.
