Dear Mr. Holland:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the Department of Defense policy on fired gun casings. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me on this issue.
As you may know, the Department of Defense (DoD) placed small arms cartridge cases on its list of sensitive munitions items to ensure national security is not jeopardized in the sale of any Defense property. This decision threatened to seriously disrupt the supply of ammunition and had already began to cause ammunition prices to increase. I am pleased to inform you that upon review, the DoD has determined the cartridge cases could be appropriately placed in a category of government property allowing for their release for sale.
Please let me take this opportunity to share my beliefs with you on Second Amendment rights. First, as a former FBI Special Agent and member of the law enforcement community, I believe we should be looking to enforce existing gun laws and then punish criminal offenders to the full legal extent of those laws.
Second, while we must provide law enforcement with the tools necessary to combat criminals, we must ensure the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens are not infringed upon. The ability of law-abiding sportsmen, gun enthusiasts and citizens concerned for their personal safety to own a gun, whether for sport or protection, should not be compromised.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on this issue. I appreciate your passionate concern for protecting the right of Americans to self defense. Please let me know if I can be of any additional assistance.

Thanks for posting Charlie. Sounds like one of the good guys. They should all learn not to make politics out of our second ammendment right. It is non-negotiable.

I've had coffee with him.........Great guy.
Damn good shot also !!
Nice to see that the DOD has figured out that the brass WE paid for should stay in this country.
Why would we take on the cost of shredding it?
Then sell it for less to China than our Ammo Companys pay for it?
Plus our Ammo Companys pay a tax, when buying it.
I don't recall how well I did in my Economics class years ago.......but I can friggin add and subtract.
