BOLT, Springfield Experimental T1
Well, this was another of those bids I put on an item I did not expect to win. It was an odd one that caught my eye that was for a Springfield Experimental T1 bolt assembly, and I did pull my Brophy book and confirmed (pages 290 through 295) before bidding. I thought it would be an interesting item to add to my collection, so I tossed a $40.00 bid, not expecting to win.
Well, I did win, which strikes me as odd, and it arrived yesterday. It's a fascinating item and looks to be complete, although it is missing the firing pin spring. A letter came with it, expanding that the item came from the Richard Baker Collection and that it was given to Paul LaViolette by John Garand
. How true the letter is, I don't know, but I will keep the two items together so that when I'm done enjoying it (Alive or Dead), it can pass to another. I'm not sure what I might do with the bolt, though, really; I wish I had enough time to take one of my old receivers and build a working model of the T1 rifle. Here are pictures:

Neat piece...I expect the wish to build a rifle will get ahead of you and you'll eventually flesh it out.
