One of the more "quirky" items that I have in my WW2 home front collection is this combined first aid kit and book with the addition of air raid precautions. It dates to 1939 and was a private purchase item aimed at the home owner. Speaking as a first aider, the contents of the kit does appear somewhat limited. What is slightly mystifying is the inclusion of sowing thread, something that I do not believe I have seen included in any other first aid kit.
