Jim, I have to agree with you. It just makes me so sick seeing how many ppl everyday getting burned on Ebay. I could just sense from being away for a good while I've noticed some changes here and several other forums.(I'm still trying to figure it out) I'm getting the bug to build another 5.56 Civie Shorty and go nuts and be happy with what I already have or just keep waiting for that spark.

Jim, I didn't think you remembered when I melted that barrel. I should because all those videos I showed you and then all that ammo I bought, you knew exactly what I was going to do. I had that barrel glowing for awhile. I'm not looking forward to it. I hate killing those damn hogs there nasty and filthy.

Well, the only other way to get rid of them is to convince them to move to Arkansas...or Mexico. Good luck on that one. I remember the pics of their destruction. We're seeing them way up here in the prairies now of all things.

Whoa now Jim. I'm spending half my time between NY and Arkansas working on getting my sisters estate down there sold. To put it in a nutshell I'm having enough damn problems without adding hogs to the mix. Why don't you wish them on Navada or some other den of sin. Truth is if they made it south of the Missouri border they wouldn't last long enough to make it past the northern border counties. Not when those barbecuers down there hear about free pork on the hoof running around !!!

OK Nevada...now those guys are going to roast me...

Thing that perplexes me is how they made it all the way up here to our prairies. I haven't seen them with my eyes but the people telling me should be able to distinguish what breed they are and they say feral...like yours down south.

From a AP story Nov 2023

In Canadaicon, the wild pigs roaming Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba pose a new threat. They are often crossbreeds that combine the survival skills of wild Eurasian boar with the size and high fertility of domestic swine to create a “super pig” that’s spreading out of control.

Ryan Brook, a professor at the University of Saskatchewan and one of Canada’s leading authorities on the problem, calls feral swine, “the most invasive animal on the planet” and “an ecological train wreck.”

Canada’s problem dates back only to the 1980s when it encouraged farmers to raise wild boar, Brook said. The market collapsed after peaking in 2001 and some frustrated farmers simply cut their fences, setting the animals free.

It turned out that the pigs were very good at surviving Canadian winters. Smart, adaptable and furry, they eat anything, including crops and wildlife. They tear up land when they root for bugs and crops. They can spread devastating diseases to hog farms like African swine fever. And they reproduce quickly. A sow can have six piglets in a litter and raise two litters in a year.

That means 65% or more of a wild pig population could be killed every year and it will still increase, Brook said. Hunting just makes the problem worse, he said. The success rate for hunters is only about 2% to 3% and several states have banned hunting because it makes the pigs more wary and nocturnal — tougher to track down and eradicate.

Jim, I was hunting feral hogs in B.C. 40 years ago. It seems some Germanicon immigrants missing their annual Black Forest Boar hunts released hogs between Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs in the hope of reviving their hobby in B.C. The Fish and Wildlife Branch issued an open season on them with no bag limit in the hopes of wiping them out before they overran the area. Members of the club I belonged to and I went after them a couple of times but never got a clear shot at any of them. If we were allowed to hunt over bait I'm sure we could have bagged a few but that practice is banned in B.C. If they're popping up in the prairies, it's probably for the same reason.

Every Texas Hunting magazine I read they all say this has been the worse year by far since the migration of these Ferrell hog's. BBB between both Doe season I let my neighbor bring his to graze. The one thing that really ****es me is grown thinking that they own the place since its avery nice place to hunt. Well I had to run off knuckleheads for not picking up up there empty shells. These cows can get really sick and talking to some men is like talking to kids. I just we wish a lot of yall lived here there's really great hunting out three yall could hunt year around for free
