Something else I'm looking forward to in retirement is not being forced to sit through any more mandatory DEI videos. It's always a White male who's the oppressor and a woman of color who is the aggrieved party. It wears thin.

I just took the decision of having an own personal phone. After 17 years of continuing availability for company and customers, I just could no more. First step toward quiet and retirement
Jokes aside, time is the most valuable asset. I want mine now…
Not really related to the thread, but if people talk of retiring, I feel cut out.

Yep, work isn't like a "custodial prison sentence" that you can't get out of, despite what some people appear to think. After finishing education one isn't "sentenced" to 45 to 50 years of WORK with no chance of remission or reduction of "sentence" for good behaviour.

Seems to be quite a bit of wisdom here abouts.

First thing to do with my new time....Start playing hockey again!
The kiddos are at that age when they start asking questions about before they were born. I stopped playing about the same time as I ran out of time for such things with newborns around, and so I was telling a hockey story at dinner - and they both cried BS and didn't believe me. So they dared me to dig my gear out of the attic and prove that I could play. I found an over 40 group in the area that has regular pick up games and gave it a go. As I was stretching on the ice the first time out, the kids were in the bleachers betting on whether I would make it to the end or whether they would be calling mom to take me to the hospital after. I did OK, but my feet move much slower than I remember, and my stick handling felt like strumming a guitar with mittens on. Fast forward to my hat trick in a league game last night! Now the kids want me to teach them to skate so they can beat up on me. Very much looking forward to that!
