Vintage M1903 stock cartouches
I picked up a Remington M1903 rifle. The receiver is in mint condition (9/42) as well as the barrel (7/42). Looks like someone slapped on a vintage Springfield S stock with 2 cartouches. The forward is a script CV and the aft is a blocked A.A.J... The proof is also a script P. The A.A.J. is not Augusta Arsenal but possibly a Springfield 30.03 to 30.06 conversion stamp or an RIA stamp. I welcome any information, thank you.

The A.A.J. and script encircled "P" are indeed very early Augusta Arsenal inspection and proof stamps from the WWI period.
