Can anyone assist me in researching who Gentlemen Cadet J. Rose of the Royal Military College was, who had won a cased French Auguste Francotte & Cie .577 caliber revolver in December 1885 in "Tactics"?

I think I found him. Cadet J. Rose of the Royal Military College could be(come) Captain John Rose who was born 11th January 1866 and died unmarried on 24th October 1896 in Egypt. He was son of James Rose, 23rd of Kilravock, a British Army officer. Fits pretty spot on since he would be 19 when he won the revolver.
