Grenade Launchers

What would the value on this be ? How hard would it be to get the plate for the bottom of the grenade ?
I have a friend that has about 3-4 more of the launchers.

In the USA the grenade cup launcher can be purchased from Springfield Sporters for $100 each,the last time I looked.

The plates can't be expensive because if they were, you'd just machine up half a dozen. On that thought, anyone any idea what the thread size is for the plate stud/grenade base?

I'd like to know too as I need to repair a plate with a broken stud. I'm told it's 1/4-20 but I'm not sure. It's 20tpi, but the 1/4" (BA?) bolt I have wobbles a bit when threaded into the base.

I thought it was 1/4 Whit until I tried to fit one to the camera tripod socket - a bit bigger - probably .303 x 20 from rodded grenade days.

That question about the screw thread seems to have baffled everyone hasn't it? If only someone had asked a simple question...., like the thread size of the screw-down nozzle inside the cup. You know - , the one with a flathead screwdriver slot across it that screws down onto the barrel. The one that you didn't realise was a screwed nozzle because it's always so gummed-in with fouled carbon that it looks like part of the fitting!

I wouldn't use an actual grenade for shooting. Tennis balls are just the right size and you can use noise blanks instead of the hard to find grenade launching blanks.

Somebody has indeed machined up a bunch of base discs. Will have to ask them what the thread was.

I have three base plugs, none of which are the same.

One, made of steel, marked No.36 MkI over FLH 5 41 which seems to have 1/4 UNC thread.

Another, made of aluminium, No.36 MkI over /i\ Z, R.B.D. 8 41 which has the same thread.

The third is also aluminium, No36 MkII R.B.D 8-40 which has a M10x1.25 thread.

Anyone care to shed some light?
