Finished cleaning up and bluing all the screws last weekend, and waxed & buffed the wood before assembling after work today - if only to not lose any small parts. Last things to do is raise the few dents in the right barrel and chase the checkering. I'm leaning against doing anything to the checkering though now that it's come along - I feel like it would be lipstick on a pig at this point. I can rent a dent raiser for 4dreamers.
The only thing I'm worried about is the missing hook on the toplever. From what I can tell of the mechanism, it is (was) there as a backup in case the notch on the barrels where the nose of the bolt lock into fails. But the crass model has the exact same design - eyelet on the rib, same bolt and cam design, but the toplever and cam are one piece and no hook. Nonetheless, I found a replacement with hook intact, but would need to fit by hand and a make a new toplever screw to match the contour unless I get very lucky.
