    Trying to ID markings

Although its not an Enfield, I've seen this type of serial number before with what looks like two inverted V's at the start, cant remember if was an Enfield , Martini Henry or even a bayonet.

The rifle in question is a Remington M1903 (pics on the M1903 forum), it has a extra serial number as in the pick and also what looks like an Arabic marking under the rear sight base, anyone seen these before ?

Two upside-down 'V's are the number 88 in Arabic. I don't know if that helps.

Enfield type skilled repair on the stock. I have never seen that on a US rifle stock.

Thanks Sapper, and HOH , yep it’s got a few Armourer’s repairs and one in the stock just behind the inlet for the tang, It’s not in the best shape the stock, but the repairs are or same as I’ve seen on Enfields , just trying to find the country this went to after WW2.
