Is there any way to verify the National Match Rifles other than rolling the $25 dice with the CMPicon hoping they had custody at some point?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). While some gurus can do a very good job of verifying that it is more than likely a NM rifle, about the only way to really enhance the value to most collectors is to have a piece of paper verifying its NM history. The $25 spent, if on record, will add over $1k to your rifle to some collectors. It is well worth it either way, it’s just another piece of history documenting what you have. And because they don’t have a record of it doesn’t necessarily mean it is not a match rifle. For example I once sent in paperwork on a rifle I knew was a NM rifle but they did not have record of it, I waited a while and sent my request again and they found it and in the interim the seller found his dads paperwork and mailed it to me. I have another that they did not verify that experts believe that it is a type 1 that was modified by the shooter as upgrades became authorized. While I have no doubt, and is considered most likely a NM by experts, it is not papered will not demand the value on the secondary market should I decide to sell it later. Good luck! PS. They received the records from RIA and even if they never had possession of it they may be able to verify it’s history. Regards

Beautiful rifle! Is that a hardness test punch mark on the op-rod handle? I've never noticed that before, very neat thank you for posting
