A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. That is a very kind offer and I'd love to take you up on it, but I think the cost of the flight to collect it may make it prohibitive.
Hope it finds a good home.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

That's a very generous offer Daan. The last PH5A I bought from ePay cost me over $300 (USD).

It would , many years ago I spent time working with the automotive industry is SA, visited PE, Cape Town, Pretoria, East London and of course Jo'berg where we had a factory.

Had a long weekend touring Kruger Park.

A wonderful country and I wanted to move there but the wife was very concerned about the political situation and having to live behind locked gates.

One thing that surprised me was the 'shark nets laid out a few 100 yards off the beaches, apparently the nets caught the sharks on the way back out rather than keeping them off the beaches. The nets were staggered with gaps inbetween so as the sharks slowly swam in they would swim along the net until they got to the end, then turn into shore, swim along the next net and zig-zag in. On the way out after grabbing a swimmer, they went out at full speed and got caught up in the nets.

    A beautiful country !
