Bagcraft strap.
I have a couple of these straps (braces?) in my collection that I haven't been able to find any info on. Appears to be Pattern 37 and made by Bagcraft in 1945, they have all the appearance of a regular P37 brace but with a pistol ammunition pouch permanently attached. Any info on these greatly appreciated, I've posted some pics showing that it could be used as a shoulder strap for a pack, something that was mentioned in David Gordon's book but unfortunately with no pictures.

I checked Hallet's book, not in there either. Might be a field alteration.

The "N" stamp is commonly seen on braces as one could choose from Long, Normal, or Short so my guess is this is a modified brace. I have two so you're welcome to one. PM me.

Is the pouch padded or just plain webbing? If padded I wondered if it's intended for a compass?

No padding which makes me think it was mainly designed for pistol ammunition and, of course anything else one would want to put in it.
