1928 1903 Springfield
I would be grateful for opinions on this 1903. These are the only pictures I have at the moment - the barrel is '28 dated, and seems to match the receiver. Rebuild, DCM, NRA, parts rifle?
Be great to have the experts thoughts

Nice photos. Not at expert. Both CMP
Alabama stores continue to sell these. Condition really varies. I have 1,305,xxx in a scant stock. Yours is a Raritan re build.

The receiver dates to 1928 and she's more than likely wearing the original barrel. The RA-P is a Raritan Arsenal inspection stamp circa WWII. I'm guessing she was inspected and deemed in service condition. Smarter folks will be around with better input I'm sure.

Nice rifle! Looks fresh from the arsenal. The stock and handguard look to be manufactured by Remington, for replacement use, circa 1942. The cocking piece is of Smith Corona manufacture (M03-A3). What stamps do you see on the bolt?

Not sure about prices in the UK
, but the rifle is certainly worth a $1,000 US dollars, here in the states.
Not to dissuade you from a potential purchase, but you need an '03 in a nice finger grooved stock to compliment that pretty C-stocked rifle!

You're absolutely right, Mike
But nice '03s are difficult to find over here, so its hard not to be drawn in!
