Entering the XXI Century… Unwillingly, but not Unhappy!

Today, we had a group of people at our range for a shooting experience.
Very nice day, we all brought very nice guns to let them test shoot (in my case, a S&W 27-2, a Colt Officer’s Model Match in .22LR and my Enfield Trainer with Garandicon sights).
A friend brought his new Walther PDP Match with 5” barrel. He told me he wanted to sell it because he fell in love with .22LR rifles and his wife told him that he ought to choose.
    Well… I helped him out…
I shot 50 rounds in rapid fire (had a couple Parkinsons), and bought it…
    Somehow, I don’t feel guilty…
    Now I am “modern” too.

I don't think I'll ever like modern guns. I have a Sig M17, still haven't fired it. I like that it holds 21 rounds but can't imagine needing 21 rounds for anything. I'm getting bypassed and I don't care. I used to see quite a few Savage 99 rifles in the deer woods but I haven't seen anyone but me and my father in years now. All plastic stocked bolt action Remington's or their clones. I do carry a Savage 110 in 17HMR. Gave up the old 22 for squirrels.

It's not so odd to enjoy firearms from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries which I think most of us own. Our favorites are probably 19th and 20th century but it's good to keep up with technology.

I just could not get over the awful triggers of striker fired guns.
Then I tried a few, among them a Canik and then this one. Glock I really don’t consider an option for me. FN, S&W, HS, you name them.
None was ok for me, but the Canik (almost) and then this Walther.
The trigger is still miles away from my Bernardelli Practical Elite, and also far enough from the other one, the P-One. But it is an unfair comparison. One is a competition gun, completely hand fitted, the other has shot about 30-40.000 rounds.
Compared to a few other hammer fired guns I could fire, it is sometimes even better.
And then, I had to help a friend in need!

Ovidio, my favorite EDC gun is a Tanfoglio Witness manufactured by Fratelli Tanfoglio and imported by EAA Corp. It's a double action hammer fired pistol in 9mm Luger and is accurate and reliable. Surprisingly, and despite being an active IPSC shooter in the 1980's I never heard of them until recently.

I know that gun. I’ve been making love to the .45 APC version for years… They come even cheap enough as used, but then I always fall for some other stuff. I have only heard good things about them.
