Yes, and at the ceremony (even with my hearing aids) I thought Colonel Gibson was saying "B" when explaining it was for exemplary service in combat when applied to the Bronze Star. When I read the newspaper article I finally figured out (duh!) that it was a "V" and not "B".
Our older brother had already been in the U.S. Army for about 6 years when Gene was sent to Vietnam. I'm proud of both of them and they've always been very generous and helpful to me. - Bob
