1950 No1. Mk3* with “GRI” and crown stamp.
Receiver, barrel, bolt, nose cap and rear sight matching.
Full wood with “TDE over W” cartouche and brass tag (not disk) on the butt stock.
“Ishapore screw” in the stock.
Looks to be in excellent condition.
Sorry, wish I had pictures to share.

So not an FTR older rifle Thunderstreak hence all of Alan's and Bindi's caveats are relevant.

Do not take this as gospel.
It is possibly a pre-change rifle as, after independence they changed the GRI (George Rex Imperator) to RFI (Rifle Factory Ishapore)
Maybe it was part of the last batch produced and marked up before the change ?
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

That’s what I am wondering but suspect there is no way to know for sure.

Any thing is possible given enough time.
The USA
is/was capable of doing it.
You are human ( i have no reasonable proof other wise ) so mistakes are possible

An 'old English saying'
"The man that never made a mistake, never made anything"
I reckon there is some truth in that.
