I've wanted a Maasai lion spear ever since I read the book "Hunter" by John A. Hunter. John Hunter was hired by the Kenyan government to be their wildlife control officer and he personally dispatched thousands of lions, leopards, buffalo, and elephants that were attacking the native's crops and cattle. His description of the Maasai warriors attacking and killing marauding lions with their short stabbing spears would raise the hair on the neck of the the most battle hardened veteran. They would track and harry the lion until it sought refuge in a bush which would then be surrounded. The Maasai warriors would then close in and throw stones at the lion until enraged it desperately bolted for safety. It was a great honor to be the warrior to take the brunt of the lion's attack while the rest of the warriors set to at the lion chopping and stabbing with grim determination. John Hunter complained after all was done that the lion's hide was worthless.
