    It's an M109 Paladin in the former West Germanyicon doing firing exercises. The country is densely populated, so these HUGE silencers were developped to keep noise levels down for the citizenry

    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered.     Considering you're in a tank and the silencer is likely made of thick sheetmetal with some kind of light aluminum or magnesium baffles (a guess), I probably wouldn't be too concerned. Tanks survive whole buildings falling over on them all the time.
