Ok, let me see if I got this straight... you all the guns and ammo to protect the family from home invastion.... you got the NRA to protect the 2nd Amend rights to own all of these guns.... you got a fire safe to protect the guns from fire and theft.... But I got just ONE question... what have you got to protect YOU from your WIFE when she finds out how many weapons are REALLY in the 14-gun safe???????????

Me an ammo hoarder - Never! I am however an accumulator, of both guns and ammo. I have bought very little ammo in recent years and that was mostly for new guns I picked up in calibers I didn't have.
Back when all military calibers were under 10¢ a round I bought lots. I didn't do much shooting for several years so now that I'm back with the program I have plenty to shoot. Don't have an exact count, but 20+K rds total for all calibers would be close. Yep, if the SHTF I would grab only 5 or 6 guns and a couple hundred rds for each and leave the rest for who ever found it! Need space in the truck for camping gear, MREs and other stuff with the over flow - tent, gas cans usv. going in my ¼ ton jeep trailer.
I also stack my rifles nose to tail in my big double doored safe with what I commonly use on the front row. I'm currently reordering that safe - got the smaller one finished, 21 rifles in racks and another 25 pistols & folders on the shelves - so I have rifles stacked/laying all over the place. Found stuff buried in the back that I forgot I had cause I haven't seen the back row in 5 yrs.
I need to buy another safe as I've got enuf rifles stacked in corners to fill it.

There is an important "critical mass" you need to reach when the wife can't really tell when there's been an "addition" to the herd! That's the point to get to when marriage and firearms finally become blissful! Remember.....it's always easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission!

"Critical mass" is probably an accurate term since my wife is a natural redhead with an irish background.... I have long considered her a small, mobile tactical nuclear device who is designed to be triggered without two person inter-locking keys....
Asking forgiveness is probably good advice - especially when she finally gets INTO the safe and is loading the nearest shotgun!

Some years ago before I retired, I noticed a older shooter at the club who would set up and shoot about ten rounds every Sunday. I asked him why he didn't shoot more. He answered "That's all I can afford to shoot, I'm retired". Before I retired I made plans to be able to shoot as much as I want, hence cases of ammo. I havent bought loaded ammo except .22's in years.
