I have a situation similar to yours.
I have a 4.44 IHC with a 1-52 SA barrel and with a bright breech face. I don't know if its an original combination but the finish on the barrel and receiver are original. They will stay together.
I have a 3.8 SA with an original finish 2-53 LMR barrel with a bright breech face and no punch mark. The receiver has what looks like the dark green, smooth satin parkerizing done by SA in the early 50s. That combination will stay together too.
There may be some history there for those rifles. I'm not disturbing them. Who knows what they'll find out in the future.
