What is this?
Hi guys (and gals),
Anybody know what this is? It's OMG complicated with drums, slides, sprockets, gears, gorgeous main casting. I figure it has to be military. Any help appreciated.

Looks too new to be a Norden. The lightening cuts in the forging suggest something airborne. The square "35" stamp is a Quality Control inspection mark like you see on a lot of NASA equipment.

"...drums, slides, sprockets, gears, gorgeous main casting..." Those are in lots of stuff that has nothing to do with the military.
Might be part of the innards of a milling machine. Or the like.

My guess is some type of analog computer. Bombsight, fire control system, I don't know.

The more I look at it, it appears it would have a flat table surface of some sort that would sit on top. The gearing enables the table to move in one plane and only two deminsion and it would be precise, looking at the small gears. Compared photos 1 and 3. Difficult to estimate its size. Nothing of scale to compare it with. Not sure what the unit is sitting on. Appears to be pieces of old concrete floor in a maching factory. Texture of flooring resembles very old compressed slag.
If Al eventually tells us, we will most like say, oh ya, I can see it now.
