The question was about a T3 carbine, not an M3. The T3 was made by Inland and Winchester and only a few thousand were made. The Inland and Winchester T3 carbines were different and each used a special receiver. I have an Inland with a welded receiver which I bought from RSI about 12 to 15 years ago for $1100. I also have an Inland complete with the type 2 Infrared Scope which set me back about $2500 around 2002.
The previous reply was correct about the M3 carbine being based on an M2 carbine, although I'm sure that the IR scope was installed on the M1carbine over the years.
