Failure to extract is caused by:
1. A dirty or rough chamber. Clean.
2. A restricted gas port. Clean.
3. Dirty ammo. Clean or change the ammo.
4. A bad extractor plunger and spring. Replace both.
5. A broken extractor. Replace the extractor.
"...op rod spring and greased it and changed the gas cylinder and lock screw..." None of that will fix it.
The rifle looks very clean. He didn't say where it sat but it was cleaned when put away. The original owner was suppose to have used it at Perry in the matches. I doubt it was dirty ammo the man working on is a gunsmith, he just doesn't work on many Garands. I will suggest the extractor, plunger and spring. Thanks guys.
