I just bought some Venezuela stuff at a local gunshow, brass cased, 1975 production, siad to be clean burning packed in 90 round boxes for $25.00 each (U.S.
D.). I got a case of the stuff but, haven't shot it yet. Maybe this weekend. I'll keep you posted-SDH

Don't count on finding any surplus 7.92 in Canada
, or any other surplus ammo as well. Canadian law is such that none will make it in: 1- testing to allow surplus ammo in, is prohibitively expensive for the quantity that would be sold. 2- spec's are such that NO surplus ammo will fit the guidelines. 3- Canada is not a large market compared to the USA
. I know chaps in the USA who fire off 20 to 30,000 rounds at one shoot. PLUS once it is here, shipping becomes a problem with quantities allowed, so you are almost better off buying cheap commercial ammo at local hardware store. You are allowed to import up to 5K for personal use from the USA, but they cannot legally sell it to you in the USA....Catch 22.....
The only way we will get any "surplus ammo" in Canada is if someone does a deal as happened some years ago, where a manufacturer actually did a run of commercial ammo for a price that was almost comparable to suprlus prices. The ammo was sold as surplus but actually was not......

wheaty, a good point on using commerical 8mm ammo if your milsurp is a bolt action. BA's will digest any flavor of ammo unlike most semi or full auto guns. I have a 98K and shoot commerical ammo in it. I like to use boxer primed, noncorrosive ammo that I can reload.

i have friends who are singing the blues on the .223 supply issue.

Ultimately, it's going to be a reloading man's game.

It also violates US export laws. Let's not have any more discussion on this topic, please.
