Carbine ammo was non-corrisive cause the gas piston is not readily removable for cleaning by the troops, it was designed that way for some reason. And for the military to worry about the "long term" storage of ammo during WW11 is ridiculas on their part. They could very well have used any in storage, corrisive, for training and shipped new stuff out for combat. During a major war they just don't worry about waste. They did not switch for the same reason they have not changed many things over the years. The reluctence of the brass to change to new-fangled stuff.
