Miniature Infantry rifles similar to these were available in kit form in the mid 1960's, our local hobbyshop carried them.
The kits had real wood stocks and very detailed barreled actions with removable operating bolts.
They were about the right scale for the old GI Joe around 1/6 scale, maybe smaller.
I'm not sure but those kits may have come from Italy or Spain.

I remember those kits, however these pewter models are far above those kits in detail. (and the bayonet is removeable)
They made a Martini-Henry with a copy of a VC on a plaque in the same scale but apparently that's no longer in production. (got mine)
