Well, I got the rifle. Posted a few pictures over on the Mauser board. It is nothing but a hunting rifle, a tool for bagging elk in open country.

Homeland "Security" has got the ports all messed up because it can't proces background checks timely. Sometime it takes a year for a port worker to get cleared. They need to take a look at how firearms checks are done. Much as I dislike them, they could be a **lot** worse.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. The heck of it Jon the next day the generator in the Datsun P/U I was driving went out and I found this parts store in the middle of nowhere and those guys bent over backwards to help me get it patched back up so I could get back on the road. The 2 bearings I needed cost me $15 (the generator was over $200 and I didn't have the time and money to wait 4 days for it anyways. I drove the rest of the way back to Ohio on the battery. Every night I would pull off and charge the battery and spend the night. Back on the road at daylight. I did stay an extra day in San Antonio N.M. That was a pretty woman. (sigh)
