Serial number help
My IBM with early features has a faint 1st number in the serial number.
it is either a 3 or an 8.

Any thoughts? Did IBM have 8 million serial numbers?

It is a three. Very common for IBM numbers to be hit so hard that threes and fives look like an eight. Can be first or last numbers

I don't know if I have ever seen any Carbine with an 8 million serial number. Does anyone have a photo of one?

8 Mil Carbine
Jim,
Without any books near by.........wouldn't a carbine in the 8 mil range- Be a M2 Inland?

Charlie,
Yes, that was Inland's last block 7,369,661 to 8,069,660. Even though it should most likely be an M-2, I would like to see a picture of one. I just have never seen one. And I have seen a bunch of M-2's.
They list it to 8,069,660 but the highest I have heard about is 7,615,022
