    Page 100 of Mr. Ferris' book "United Statesicon Rifle Model of 1917" indicates that inspector marks 1-200 were assigned to Eddystone; 201-399 to Remington; and 400-600 to Winchester. The number "422" is listed as having been found on at least six different Eddystone parts. He also notes that the eagle is usually facing left except that on many Winchester parts it faces right. HTH
