It's got a star-gauged barrel (SA 4-28), Winchester-pattern scope blocks on the barrel and receiver ring (7.2 inches apart), the bolt and bolt-way have been polished, BUT it is in an earler one-recoil bolt finger-groove barrel.

Any records of this s/n at SRS?

    Mark.
PS: It shoots very well. Two week ago, fitted with Winchester A-5, all scoring shots in the black at 1000 yards!
Mark, There are a few rifles that are real close but your's isn't listed.

    Thanks,
Ft Dupont to SA means the rifle was sent to be used at the Ft Dupont rifle matches. After the match it was returned to Springfield Armory. I have had two rifles that were listed as such. The first was used at the match, returned and rebuilt as a standard issue rifle. The second rifle, which I still own, was returned and rebuilt as a NM rifle with a 1928 "Star" barrel. The paper work shows a list of about 40 or 50 rifles that were returned to SA. There are a group of "A" rifles & a group of "B" rifles. The "A" rifles were used in the matches, the "B' rifles were not used.

PM sent, I may have discovered a rifle from that shipment you mention and would like to discuss those rifles. Thanks

You realise this posting was from almost ten years ago? If you look at things you'll see he was last on at 09-10-2009 @ 04:52 ... That's why we don't resurrect old posts.
    Regards, Jim
