The US actually leased land from the UK. The airport in Bermuda was
built and used as an airbase into the '80s. Several other examples come to mind.

I believe Ascension Island and Timheri Airport in Guyana were leased during WW2 amongst many others.

Let's see...there was the Placentia Bay/Argentia Naval Station, Goose Bay NAS, Stephenville Air Force Base , Gander AFB (all of which remained as SAC/Reforger bases into the 1970's)...all in Newfoundland/Labrador...and we're still on Assencion Island, not to mention Diego Garcia.

Very good show underway at KCI Expo in Kansas City

The caliber of vendors was way above average and the displays (especially by Marlin were top notch) deserve the credit due. Some folks just have too much $$$, but at least it was enjoyable to look and listen.


Finally got my first Lee-Enfield today.

There were several Lee-Enfields to select from which made the experience much more interesting. So after 3 hours of walking the floor I focused on a very nice 5L - - - - with excellent furniture.

David Steinberg did a great job of cleaning up a 1942 Longbranch with a Mark III site. So, after an hour of most enjoyable conversation with Mr. Stienberg, I was an owner.
