Honest FOB flip sight?
I bought what I hope is an honest FOB flip sight for an IBM. Anybody see anything that looks wrong in this one? Many thanks in advance.

Can anyone show their FO B marked flip to compare?

I have one Charlie, on an original 3857xxx IBM, staked with chisel marks. Am reluctant to post photos any more due to the humpers. Compared the photos last night and two areas of concern are the milling pattern and the overall shape of the base which compare favorably with known fakes. If the OP will PM me and provide his email, will be happy to send photos tonight.

Thanks David,
My thoughts run along the same lines. But without ever having a IBM flip in hand, I didn't want to chance a guess. I haven't spoke with dnikkor, but was worried he might have a inspection time ticking away.
Cheers
Charlie

In THIS case, it is people who make fakes.

Anybody else want to weigh in here? Between the this forum and two on the CMP
forums, I'm getting a 45/55 that it is true/false. I'm running out of time to attempt to get my money back, but I hate to accuse somebody of forgery without being 98% positive. I know that some of this info is being held close to the heart, but it would be greatly appreciated if somebody could give me a little more "ammunition" before I contact the seller. I thought I read somewhere that certain sized drill bits will fit the true ones verses the fakes, but I can't find the thread that talked about it. That info might be all I additionally need. Private emails would be great.
David F., greatly appreciate the photos you sent and am leaning strongly your way. Its just that I have received a positive reading from some additional people whose opinions I also respect.

Dave,
It may be a good idea to share who the seller is. Many of us have had dealings with different folks through the years and some have great reputations, while others absolutely do not. If an individual, perhaps it would be worthwhile to ask where he purchased from. Good luck, and best regards,
David

I bought it at a Kansas City gun show Saturday. The biz card I got is for a guy named Kevin Schliesman, from Bellevue, Nebraska. I got a phone number and supposedly they are holding a Type 1 front band for an IBM for me. I guess if the guy doesn't return my call, then I have my answer.
They had a pretty impressive inventory of USGI parts & stocks....of course that can cut two ways.
Thanks for your suggestion.

Well, I contacted the seller in Nebraska, who maintains that this is a true flip sight and has offered to return my money. I'll let everybody know how this saga turns out.
