Colt circa 1918
I saw one today..excellent condition..all correct as far as I could tell except the mag. SN# 542744 and it has the heart cut outs in the grip frame. Would a pistol from this time period have an inspectors initials or just the Colt verified proof stamping?

The Colt Verified Proof did not show up on military .45 pistol production until 1937. A 1911 in that serial number range would have had the eagle head inspection/acceptance mark though.

I think this one might get a second look. They are asking more than I want to pay but might have some lee way. Thanks for the info.
